The Israeli Army made extensive use of the Sherman Tank from the foundation of the state of Israel until the early 1980’s. If you into tanks then you have probably heard of the 'Isherman' highly modified Sherman tanks used by Israel in the 6 day and Yom Kippur wars. Less well known are the earlier Versions of Sherman the Israeli army used. In the early 1950’s The French Supplied Israel with a number of used M4A1 76 (w) Sherman tanks these weed the final versions of the Cast Hull M4A1 with wet stowage and the 76mm M1 gun. In Israeli service these were known as M1 Sherman’s and its this version that is the subject of the Tamiya kit.
The kit is ok there are lots of reviews online it uses some older parts mixed with some new ones to give a kit that is easy to construct but not as detailed as a Tasca / Asuka Sherman.
I built the kit and added an aftermarket aluminium barrel from Aber and some replacement tracks from panda plastics. I also sculpted a mantlet cover out of epoxy putty and added some stowage.
